"Kanawha" is an old Indian place name, commonly translated as "place of the white stone". The name is used for many locations and landmarks in and around the Charleston area.
The Kanawha river flows through Charleston on its way to the Ohio. The area around Charleston is collectively known as the Kanawha Valley, the place where we live and are proud to call home.
